Palmistry - The Thumb

Thumb in a way, represents the whole hand. Hence more importance is attached to the thumb than it is given to the lines in the palm. The thumb reveals the whole identity of the individual to the palm reader. The thumb is considered as the root of the whole hand. The thumb is considered as the center of the will-power. It is formed by 2 pieces of bones. The first phalange of the thumb indicates logic and the phalange containing the nail indicates will-power.

According to medical sciences, no harm is done for the individual if the four fingers are cut off. But if the thumb is torn and there is profuse bleeding then the person might go insane and even results in his death.

Parts of the thumb

First phalange of the thumb

If the first phalange of the thumb is very long, then such a person is self-willed while he has less desire to work if the thumb is shorter. Such persons are weak-willed. If the fore part of the thumb is square, the person is clever in legal matters and is respected for his acts of justice. He is very obstinate if the fore part of the thumb is wide. If the forepart of the thumb is extraordinarily long then such a person is a murderer or a dacoit or remain engrossed in anti-social activities.

The Second Phalange of the Thumb

Persons whose second phalange is long, are clever, careful and a take a lead in social activities. They are held in high esteem by the society. If the phalange is short, the person works without any forethought. He works in acts of dangerous magnitude. If this phalange is clumsy, then he is devoid of the power of reasoning. If this phalange is depressed then the person's mind is sharp and sensitive.

Third part of thumb or Place of Venus

The third part of the thumb is not a phalange, instead it the place of Venus. A person who has this part more prominent, elegant with a pink tinge is well-advanced in love matters. They gain full popularity among friends. They succeed in life and smile under difficulties as well. If the mount of Venus is very protruded, then the person would be sexually immoral. If this part is less prominent or submerged with more than necessary lines then the person would be having a frustrated temperament.

Different types of thumbs

Long Thumb - Such persons are self-willed, self -dependent and control others. In their lives intelligence has more importance and they are called intellectuals, and they are especially interested in mathematics and engineering.

Short Thumb- Such persons do not work with their own mind instead do so at the influence of others. Emotions have prominent place in their lives than intelligence. They take special interest in poetry, painting or music.

Hard Thumb- Such persons ae obstinate and alert. They possess the capacity to keep anything to themselves. They are wanting in emotions in their lives and they mostly work on the strength of intelligence.

Flexible and Supple Thumb- A person with such a thumb is much interested in amassing wealth and is capable of adjusting according to circumstances.

Obtuse-angled thumb- If the thumb makes an obtuse angle with the index finger then it comes under this category. Such thumbs are well-formed, long and thin. They are called gentle thumbs. Persons having such thumbs are gentle and sweet-tempered. They are Artists and Musicians.

Right-angled thumb- These are those thumbs which form a right angle with the index finger. These thumbs are elegant, strong and appear like pillars. Such a person believes in hard work. They are short-tempered but quickly cool off. They stick to their words. The feeling of revenge is very strong in them. Such persons can be neither good friends not good enemies.

Acute- Angled Thumb- Thumbs which make an acute angle at the joint with the index finger come under this category. The length of such thumbs are comparatively smaller and look clumsy. Such thumbs are classed as of evil quality.

Persons with this kind of thumb are frustrated throughout their lives. They are very lazy. They do not complete any work. They remain in bad habits with lavish spending. They are less interested in religion and are more inclined towards ghosts, spirits and the like.

They are always attracted towards the other women in life.

History Of The Tarot

The origins of the Tarot are surrounded with myth and lore. It is hard to know for sure what the facts are. The Tarot has been thought to come from places like India, Egypt, China and Morocco. Others say the Tarot was brought to us from the Sufis or the Jewish Cabbalists. Still others contend that the origin of the tarot was from Moses. In the library of Alexandria, in Egypt, there were scrolls that were based on the Book of Thoth, an ancient book that came from Egypt's mystery schools. One theory is that the illustrations on the Tarot cards are secret teachings of the Book of Thoth hidden in the innocent pictures.

It seems that wherever there was a secret 'word of mouth' tradition handed down from teacher to pupil, it was hailed as the origin or beginning of Tarot. A large group believed it was the Gypsies who brought the tarot to Europe, the word gypsy being a corrupted version of Egyptian. That is highly unlikely, since evidence points to gypsies not using Tarot until the 20th century. Before that, palmistry was their preferred method of fortune telling.

The Historical Evidence Behind the Origins of the Tarot

It seems the only evidence there is to the origins of the Tarot can be found in the cards that were made in Italy, around 1420. The symbolism of the trumps can be found in the European art of the time, with some drawings being exactly the likeness of those found on Tarot cards.

History tells us that a scholar named Marziano da Torona, who was secretary to the Duke of Milan, may have invented the Tarot deck. Marziano was a scholar and an expert astrologer. The young duke, Filippo Maria Visconti instructed Marziano to create a game, using a deck that would replace the common suits of swords, coins, staves and cups. The duke wanted the new deck to have cards that represented virtues, riches, pleasures and purities. Marziano went on to create the card deck that Visconti wanted. He wrote a companion book to go with the deck of cards. It is on display in the Paris National library. In the book, there are no divine meanings to the cards, but no real rules for a card game, either. The book focuses on the symbolic meaning of the pictures and the different ranks of the depicted characters. Michelino da Besozzo is the Italian artist credited with painting the cards.

Is it plausible that the origins of the Tarot as the curious card game invented by Marziano da Torona? If so, why doesn't the book that accompanied the deck refer to the divination of the cards?

The Mystery Continues About The Origins of the Tarot

Where did the word Tarot come from? It has been called a Hebrew, Latin or Egyptian word. Is the word Tarot really an anagram, which when solved explains the mystery of the cards? Once again, the historical evidence of the origins of the word points to where the cards first appeared - in Italy. The cards were called Carte da trionfi, which is Italian for "cards of the triumphs". Later, a new card game was introduced, called Trumps or Triumphs. As it was played with different cards, the original Carte da trionfi became tarocco. In French they were called tarot.

What are these cards that are shrouded in mysterious beginnings used for? Are they good or evil? The Tarot is basically a set of symbols, which are printed on a pack of 78 cards. Regular playing cards have hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds as suits. Tarot cards have different suits, with meanings. The Wands (also known as staves or rods) point to creativity and energy. There are the Cups (or vessels), relating to emotions and friends; Swords cover the area of challenge and thought; the Pentacles (coins or disks) relate to money and security. The cards are placed in a particular pattern. A Tarot reader uses the cards as an oracle that can answer questions from the past, present or future.

The philosophy behind the Tarot is that the future is subject to change. If you are given enough notice, you can avoid the event you are being warned about. The Tarot makes you think, make you take steps that you might not have considered. When you ask a question of the Tarot that relates to the future, you'll be shown what will happen if you don't change anything. Many consider the Tarot cards as more of a counselling guide than a divining tool. Tarot readings can provide flashes of inspiration where otherwise the problems the person may be facing may seem insurmountable.

Do the cards that are used today, all over the world come from the deck Marziano da Torona created in the 1400's? Is the reason the origins of the Tarot are so shrouded in mystery owing to Anima Mundi? The Anima Mundi or soul of the world is seen as the vital force that presides over the growth and continuity of all living things. Like a Universal library, it contains the entire human races' memories and wisdom from the past, present and future. It can be summoned with deep thought. Imagine all the basic figures one could find in all religions, myths, legends and folklore. When combined, this wealth of knowledge is a powerhouse. To understand this more one can look at the Empress card of the Tarot. The very essence of femininity is represented in the Empress - she is the great mother Goddess of the world. She represents 'the eternal feminine', in myth and psychology. Does working with the images of the Tarot somehow allow our unconscious to connect with that human collectiveness? Does the Tarot become a porthole to the storehouse of answers to any question any of us has ever had? Perhaps it is because of the mystical Anima Mundi that we can't pinpoint the origin of the Tarot with certainty.

We may never really know the true history or the origins of the Tarot. Nevertheless, we continue to be attracted to the Tarot's wisdom, symbols and story.

Spiritual Strategies Can Turn Your Love

Palm reading over the past nine years, I've read thousands of hands and the issue of relationships comes up again and again. No surprise there. The greatest desire for most of us when it comes to relationships is finding an appropriate partner.

Sometimes trying to get your partner to oecommit” (to your relationship) is enough to get you committed (to the funny farm).

Below you'll discover three different yet connected ways to use the input your partner provides to reevaluate yourself and what you might be doing wrong.

Strategy #1: Your Partner is Your Mirror, Take A Closer Look.

Do you complain that your partner won't commit or doesn't keep his/her agreements, won't help out around the house, etc.? Whenever this issue comes up, I find, without exception, that a palm reading shows the individual logging the complaint has the SAME issue in their hands.

So for example, Andrea wants her husband to pick up after himself and nags him incessantly about those lonely socks on the floor. Andrea secretly dreams of being a writer " her palmistry shows a writing gift marker in her hand. When I ask Andrea, "Andrea, what are YOU doing to further your writing ambitions?" I am met with a blank stare. Sometimes, just sometimes, the person receiving the hand analysis session will perk up and say, "Oh, my goodness, I see what you mean. I'm nagging after him when I should be writing." Righto! The "mirror effect" isn't always obvious - writing and picking up one's socks may not, at first glance, have a lot in common.

What is the CORE ISSUE of your complaint with your partner and how does this mirror back something in yourself? Once you have the "core issue," ask YOURSELF, where do I need to apply this wisdom to move forward in my own self-development?

Strategy #2: It Is NOT Your Partner's Job to Read Your Mind: Speak Up!

If I had a dollar for every person who has said to me, "He (or she) should just know." Really?

Strategy #2 is so obvious that you should probably just *know* what it is. (Just kidding.) But you've heard it before - and I'm saying it again - it is absolutely essential to speak up and COMPLETE the communications in your relationships. If you find that this task falls to you again and again, your hands will no doubt reveal that learning to speak up is part of your growth journey.

Strategy #3 "Completing the communication"

It means making a request for something you'd like or need in the relationship, such as more alone time or more together time. It also means setting clear boundaries and also knowing when to keep your mouth shut and just listen. So many of our relationship conflicts are due to feeling a need to respond to everything that is said rather than just listening.

Here's my Coach's Challenge:

What have you NOT said that you are afraid to say? I challenge you to say it and stay open to your partner's response. Many times we don't speak our truth because we're not really interested in hearing the other person's response - it may not be what we want or expect - OR their truth may scare us.

You can save yourself a lot of trouble by simply addressing this before sharing your inner vulnerability. "Honey, I need to share this with you. I don't know how you're going to respond. I will do my best to stay open to your response without reacting and I invite you to share your truth with me." The less frightened we are of rejection, abandonment and attack, the easier it becomes to share our innermost truth with another (which, by the way, is the dictionary definition of "intimacy.")

Spirituality and Business: 3 Powerful Tips For Unleashing Your Intuition

If you really want to know "the secret," access your business creativity and live your Life Purpose, there’s one jewel in your treasure chest you must dig out, polish up and wear proudly - the gem is your intuition. Without it, you are likely to be confused and looking to others for your own answers.

Now, that being said, it's perfectly good and necessary to seek out spirituality and business knowledge from others. However, there is a difference between being a workshop junkie and being a truth seeker. The workshop junkie looks for the next quick fix of temporary, adrenaline-induced inspiration (quick to wear off), while the truth seeker looks within and asks, "Hey you, what do you really want to study and learn about next?" She then finds her next step - whether it be a new relationship, an enlightening book, a tele-class or a workshop (wisdom lasts a lifetime).

What makes the difference between these two kinds of women entrepreneurs? One trusts their intuition and the other doesn't. So, you may be asking, how do I TRUST my intuition more?

Here are three powerful tips for unleashing your intuition that I've discovered in my almost ten years experience as a hand analyst/palmist, and spirituality and business coach.

Tip #1: Trust the FIRST impression that comes.

Your impression could be a vision (psychic/clairvoyant), a disembodied voice (clairaudient), a gut feeling (intuition/kinesthetic response), or a simple ~knowing’ that without explanation, forethought or planning, ~flashes’ into your mind.

With my visual psychic/clairvoyant ability, I see imagery either "inside" my mind or "outside" my mind as if on an invisible movie screen. For example, many years ago, I was at a friend's party giving short palm readings to the guests. As one woman sat down in front of me, I saw twelve angels around her. The angels weren't visible in the way that she was " I saw them energetically and could feel their energy in the physical space with us. Curious and a wee bit nervous, I said, "Are you aware that you have twelve angels walking around with you?" She said, cool as a cucumber, "Oh, yes," and then proceeded to tell me some of their names!

Tip #2: Ask your heart for spirituality and business intuition.

Close your eyes and put your right hand over your heart. Breathe in and out slowly, feeling the rhythm of your heart beat. Then quietly ask your heart, "Heart, what do you want right now?" Since your heart processes emotion, NOT thoughts, it will usually respond with a simple, one- or two-word "feeling" answer such as "love," "forgiveness," "patience," "action," etc. You will probably hear these answers in your head, in your own voice.

Usually my heart answers, "I want peace and joy." However tonight, while writing this article, my heart gave me the longest answer ever. My heart said, "Beth, stop pushing yourself. I want you to be kind and gentle to yourself. Take care of yourself and do those things that make you feel pretty and happy." Pretty and happy? Never got that one before. Wow, I guess I have my homework!

Tip #3: Build your self-esteem.

In her book, Anatomy Of The Spirit, the great energy medicine expert, Caroline Myss wrote, "How we feel about ourselves, whether we respect ourselves, determines the quality of our life, our capacity to succeed in business, relationships, healing, and intuitive skills [emphasis mine]. Self-understanding and acceptance, the bond we form with ourselves, is in many ways the most crucial spiritual challenge we face. In truth, if we do not like ourselves, we will be incapable of making healthy decisions. Instead, we will direct our personal power for decision-making into the hands of someone else. Someone whom we want to impress or someone before whom we think we must weaken ourselves to gain physical security. People who have a low sense of self-esteem attract relationships and occupational situations that reflect and reinforce this weakness." (This lack of self-esteem is the #1 reason why women entrepreneurs don't use their intuition.)

After reading thousands of hands, I believe that the "Life Lesson" of humanity involves self-esteem issues. If you doubt yourself, how are you going to trust something as subtle, fast and laser sharp as your intuition? Having good self-esteem is vital to harnessing the power of your intuition. And here's the catch: If you ask and don't listen, your intuitive awareness may go into hibernation. If you ask and listen, but don't ACT, you create stagnation, procrastination and all sorts of spirituality and business

Women Business Owners, Build Your Self-Esteem and Deepen Your Confidence

After reading thousands of hands in the hand analysis (non-predictive palmistry) business, I would say the "Life Lesson" of humanity is self-esteem issues. If you doubt yourself, how are you going to trust something as subtle, fast and laser sharp as your intuition for making business decisions?

Having good self-esteem is vital to harnessing the power of your intuition in business. And here's the catch: If women business owners ask for help from their intuition and don't listen, their intuitive awareness may go into hibernation. If you ask and listen, but don't ACT, then you create stagnation, procrastination and all sorts of challenges.

Here are three quick tips, learned over years of palm reading, for women business owners to build their self-esteem and deepen their confidence in their inner guidance:

Spirituality and Business Tip #1: Delete all non-essential email for one week.

Answer only those emails that are personal or business related. You don't have to unsubscribe from everything or do anything drastic. Just cut out the noise for one week.

Notice your discomfort in deleting your non-essential email. (I receive hundreds of emails per day. Only 50 are business emails that need responses and by responding to those emails, I actually ADD efficiency to my life.) Notice if you feel anxious that you are going to miss something. Notice if you can't do it this week and want to put it off to next week. Who REALLY has the answers to your life? You or a message in an electronic box?

Spirituality and Business Tip #2: Don't do anything - and I do mean anything - that you don't want to do.

This is different from not doing something because it's uncomfortable or because you are scared. There is a fine distinction here. If you don't want to do something, you know it in every cell of your body. BUT you may be tempted to do it anyway in order to: avoid someone's wrath or criticism, be pleasing, get your way, manipulate someone or get revenge. Just to name some of the many methods of self-betrayal that I see in my palmistry practice.

Spirituality and Business Tip #3: Make commitments to your self that you can keep.

As a palmistry expert, I recommend that instead of saying, "I'm going to start working out five days a week, start writing for two hours every day and start organizing all my paperwork every week," why not commit to: "I'm going to move my body twice a week in a way that is pleasurable to me. I will write five minutes on Friday and build upon that. I will hire someone to organize my paperwork." Many women business owners in my palm reading business have learned from this tip. By making commitments you can keep, you build your self-esteem, and hence, your faith in yourself and in your intuition in making business decisions.

Palmistry Money In School

I am fascinated by money - what it is, how it operates, how to attract it, save it, invest it, spend it, give it to others and create more of it.

In palmistry, women entrepreneurs' hands reveal, in the hand's simple, straightforward way, the STRUCTURE of money as well as what to do and what NOT to do to have a good relationship with money.

Look at the palm of your hand. The middle finger is divided into three zones. The upper zone represents women business owners' 'system' of money, the middle zone represents the 'management' of money and the bottom zone represents the 'roots' of money.

The upper zone of the middle finger says that money has a system to it. This system may be abstract and invisible at first glance, but it has a system nonetheless.

The lower zone says that money has its roots in the Earth. If you think about it, EVERY TANGIBLE THING WE POSSESS COMES FROM THE EARTH. Your desk, your computer, your clothes, the food you eat, gold, diamonds, etc. - all this bounty comes from the Earth.

The middle zone is where the system of money and the material resources of money combine. Managed properly, women entrepreneurs put money in the bank. Thus, the middle zone of the middle finger is about managing money.

The System of Money (palmistry upper zone): Money is a precise measure of value - it either adds up or it doesn't. Money deals in numbers that can be put on spreadsheets and on profit and loss statements. Money is orderly and therefore, it LOVES order. If women business owners want to attract more money, they need to have structures in place that organize the money that they attract. Structures such as balanced bank accounts, an accountant, a bookkeeper and a SYSTEM for their business. The more women entrepreneurs can create reliable, repeatable systems in their businesses, the more money they will have.

The Management of Money (palmistry middle zone): This is money in the bank - preferably in an account with your name on it! The precision of your money system directly impacts the flow of money in and out of your bank account. As a palmistry expert, I cannot stress this enough.

The Roots of Money (palmistry lower zone): Money is the systematic measuring of the value placed on goods and services. ALL goods and services come, originally, from the root of all roots - Mother Earth. 'Money' measures value - tangible and intangible. The 'root' of money is that which is valuable - things you can touch as well as things you can't. Your inner value system can't be held like a diamond in your hand - but it's critical to your success in business. Your values MUST line up with your actions.

Here are some palmistry formulas that reveal the STRUCTURE of money:

NOTE:

Formula Key: Upper Finger Zone = System; Middle Finger Zone = Management; Bottom Finger Zone = Resources

Excellent System + Excellent Management + Excellent Resources (your inner values, knowledge, desire, passion, focus, additional money) = $$$$

Some System + Some Management + Some Resources = some $$

No System + No Resources + No Management = what money?

Here's another way to play with our formula: a good system plus solid values equals money in the bank.

For many women entrepreneurs that I coach, the SYSTEM seems to be the missing piece. Most women business owners are keenly aware of their bank account status because it's a physical reality. But the necessary systems to honor their inner values often get left in the dust. Why? Because they're not in our face every day, demanding our attention.
