At The Heart Of Divination

Divination is also referred to as fortune telling. Divination uses aspects of the supernatural to predict the future or give insight. There are many different forms of divination. Divination usually involves a ritual or other formal routine. This could involve the lighting of candles, chanting of incantations or burning of incense. Divination is a way to connect with the other side, which could be those who have passed away, spirits or holy beings.

Divination is a highly criticized practice. There are many people who believe that divination cannot be proven as real. They believe that since divination usually involves one person connecting with the other side that the person is simply scamming or faking the connection. Many skeptics believe that divination is merely tapping into the sub-conscious mind and not communicating with the other side at all. Still others believe that there is no connection at all and the person doing the divination is just saying whatever they believe people want to hear. Despite numerous attempts to prove critics wrong, there is still skeptics out there who will never believe in the supernatural abilities of those who practice divination.

Some of the more popular and best known forms of divination include the following:
Astrology- Using the positions of the planets, sun and moon in correspondence with time, date, location and the Zodiac to give insight into one's life and future.
Tarot- The use of a 78 card deck that is laid out into spreads or patterns then read to look into one's situation.

Palmistry- Reading the lines on ones hand to interpret their life path.
Rune Casting- The use of runes that are cast upon the ground or a cloth to tell a persons situation.

Channeling- Connecting with the other side, spirits, and delivering their messages.
Psychic/Intuition- Connecting with a spirit or other celestial being to deliver messages, can be used with other forms of divination.

Divination may be something that a person is born able to do. For others it is something to be learned. It is widely thought that every person has the ability to tap into the supernatural. It just takes time for some to learn how to do it.
Divination has been used for centuries. It is often looked at as evil or as something that is only done by those who do not believe in God. This is not true. Many religious activities often include divination style practices. Anything that brings a connection between a person and a celestial being, be it God, a Saint, an angel, is a form of divination.

Most divination is done in a proper setting. The area used for divination is only used for that purpose. Nothing else is done in that area. Many times there are alters or other things to honor the spirits that may be present. It is done in a manner that shows respect to those beings that are coming to help or send messages. Divination is something that requires great patience and dedication. It may take a person a long time in order to connect to a spirit and when they do it can tae even longer to understand the messages they may be sending. Many times people expect to see amazing things, like lights flickering, the person performing the divination to fall into a trance or something else spectacular. Real Reason You Have Fear

I've been thinking about this question a lot lately: "What's the REAL reason we have fear?" Why? Because I've been having more fear than usual. Why? I'm doing things that are new in my business and thus, I'm in unfamiliar territory. You've probably heard these explanations for the root of your fear more than once:
* You're out of your comfort zone
* You need more information
* You fear the unknown
* You lack courage
* You lack focus
* You lack self-confidence

And that's just a short list! While all of those reasons are potentially valid depending upon the situation, I'd like to dig a little deeper, using your fingerprints as our map through fear. Your fingerprints reveal several aspects of your soul, and one of those aspects is your Life Lesson. Your Life Lesson is your blind spot, your gremlin, your nemesis, your "negative tapes." Your Life Lesson could be one or a combination of these issues:
* panic caused by a life out of balance (everything is an *emergency*)
* anxiety making decisions
* not expressing your authentic feelings due to the perceived expectations of others
* sacrificing yourself into burdensome obligation
* lack of clarity about your definition of success
* challenges owning your power in the world
* challenges managing your energy, time and money
* challenges expressing your creativity
* challenges speaking up for your self
* challenges with your family and community (on a life scale)
* challenges finding your passion and dealing with victimization, shame and numbness
* challenges finding your niche due to guilt ("If I succeed, it takes away from others." THAT kind of guilt)
* paralyzing fear of rejection
* trust/surrender/intimacy issues with anything: other people, food, money, etc.

If you look at the above list, are there one or two Life Lessons that really stand out for you? My Life Lesson is "not expressing my authentic feelings due to the perceived expectations of others." Sooooo... now I'm doing new and different things with my business - and what do I fear? You guessed it! I fear what other people think and feel about me. (I recognize I have no control over what others think and feel about me. But it doesn't make my lesson any less painful for the knowing.) If you follow any fear to its natural conclusion, the fear is a painful outcome - humiliation, shame, excommunication, torture, fire, starvation, annihilation, etc. You think I'm kidding? I'm not kidding. THAT'S why we get so afraid about making that important phone call, closing the sale, standing up to our mother or father or our children.

Our Life Lesson is the surface issue that trips us up - it acts, amazingly enough, as a PROTECTION mechanism. What lies below that surface issue is our fear of not surviving. Fear lives in our mid-brain or *reptile brain* and it runs on instinct. All our crocodile brain knows is that if you step into the "Life Lesson Zone," something scary is going to happen.

And then the drama begins. You get distracted, you procrastinate, you have no money, you have no time... The drama is the crocodile brain's way of keeping you from FACING your Life Lesson and hence, learning it. By not facing the Life Lesson, our crocodile brain achieves ITS goal of keeping us stuck. When we learn our Life Lesson, we actualize our Life Purpose.

PALM READINGS

Some people study the palm simply by looking at it and tapping inot messages they receive intuitively. Palmists - such as myself with create a palm bring using black Speedball water soluble ink placed on piece of paper or file folder. The lines are carefully outlined and detailed for the person - the final interpretation lending itself to a combination of rote and psychic messages which I carefully outline on the palm print.

HANDS

Everything matters in Palmistry...the size of the hand, it's shape, color,texture, the nails, depth of lines, even the manner in which you hold your hands when I read your palm.

The hand you use to write with is your dominant hand. The lines on this hand change through the years due to the electromagnetic images from your brain which know your lifepath. Lines can add on. Once added they do not go away.

The other hand is your destiny hand. It generally remains the same throughout your lifetime. I do not consider it your last lifetime as both hands are generally similar.

LINES

Ovals on the heart denote line-divorce, separation. A long heart line: Overly romantic. A straight heart line: The mind rules the heart. The heat lines ends on the Jupiter mount: You want to control relationships

Above the heart line: A "V" denotes empathic qualities. A "U" from the Jupiter to the Apollo finger: Gay person

Horizontal lines under the Mercury finger: Karmic relationships: Long lines that run across the palm of the hand to the Mount of Venus (past lives) (thumb) denote marriages or 'living together'. (They are marked the same way).

Vertical lines: Full ones that cross horizontal lines: Your children should you decided to have any. Short lines: Miscarriages, abortions. (This will come up on the father's hand as well).

Head Line: Education: College--crosses the entire palm. Masters Program--has branches from the primary Head Line. Small branches: Other courses of study.

Life Line: Surround Venus Mount (thumb) Starts from above the thumb and goes to the wrist. If not connected to the Head Line: Caretaker, independent thinker, will give a lot in this lifetime, usually first or last child in the family-- or the only child (if the space is really wide). Double line: Depression, needs therapy at some point. A "V" closer to the wrist: a divorce A split in the line: Moving far, changing destiny

Lines that follow the Life Line of your Venus Mount (thumb area): Spirit Guides, Past Lives

Fate / Career / Destiny Line: Runs from the wrist straight up to the Saturn (middle finger). Career / careers: will often branch in many directions which will determine changes in career and goals in one's lifetime. Doubled line denotes: working at 2 careers at the same time.

Travel lines: Run along the outside palm from the heart line to the wrist. This needs to be viewed with a palm print to see where the person will travel next! Many lines: Traveling for business as well as pleasure. A few long lines: Major trips that change your destiny, often seen in the old years.

Money lines: From outside of the Venus Mount to the heart line. Run upward from the wrist. May have stars, bars or various other markings to indicate money and how you will get it. A wide "V" in that area: cash settlement. Darker / deeper lines: Finances increase Scattered lines: Make lost of money but at various times in your life. Palm prints denote: white space in that area: you will lend money but never get it back: learning lessons with money. How many lessons depends on how many white areas are between the life line and the thumb on your palm print.

Other lines: Pentagrams [goddess energies], Stars, Circles, Triangles, The letter "M", the letter "V".

All markings depend on the area of the hand where they are found.

Many markings do not mean an old soul. Many men have few lines and are old souls. Blue collar workers have fewer lines--usually just the basic lines.

FINGERS

Divided into 3 sections each with a different reference on each finger. Length of each section, and images on your palm print tell much.

Jupiter finger: Leadership, Self Esteem, The Teacher, Organization, Punctuality, The Limelight. A strong determined person will always have a long Jupiter finger, as do teachers, and performers.

Saturn Finger: Destiny, The Corporate World, Karma Long finger: Lots of karma to work out. Section closest to palm: Your family Section in the middle: Business world Section near the tip of the finger, your spiritual path

Apollo Finger: Creative, Metaphysical, Health If it points to the Saturn finger: Your have karma in the metaphysical realms.

Mercury Finger: Communications: Writing, Computers, Media Much can be gleamed in this area with a palm print as so many people are in the communication fields now. A short finger: does not go up as high as the third section on your Apollo finger: Not great with writing, but will overcome this by working with others. It the Mercury finger bends in: You hold back what you need to say!

Venus finger: How stubborn / or giving you are. It can be straight (stubborn) ---or bent (subtle)--the giver. Please check both hands as they may be different. i have one of each type!

The lengths of the Jupiter and Apollo fingers must be compared. If the Jupiter finger is shorter the person is often a late bloomer as he / she will follow the dictates of others and will not seek their own goals until their thirties.

Spaces between fingers: Wide between Saturn and Jupiter: Will overspend

Holding out the hands: When hands are placed down on the paper for the palm print: Wide open: Friendly, outgoing. Big space between the Mercury (pinky) and Apollo (ring) fingers: Will move, needs lots of freedom and space.

THE MOUNTS

The mounts refer to the fleshy lumps that appear on your hand, the high spots or "mountains" on the plane of the hand. The most prominent ones are roughly at the base of each finger and thumb. These are named after the finger or other feature which they are nearest. In general, the larger the mount the stronger the characteristic in the person. There is a special meaning if the mount is not exactly under the proper finger, but that's more specific than will be discussed here.

Jupiter (under index finger) - religion, pride, respect
Saturn (under 2nd finger) - morbidness, sadness, interpersonal relationships.
Sun (under ring finger) - artistic talent
Mercury (under pinky finger) - inventiveness
Upper Mars (directly under the Mount of Mercury) - courage
Moon (directly under Upper Mars, large) - imagination
Venus (under thumb, across from Moon) - love

Spirituality and Business: 3 Powerful Tips For Unleashing Your Intuition

If you really want to know "the secret," access your business creativity and live your Life Purpose, there’s one jewel in your treasure chest you must dig out, polish up and wear proudly - the gem is your intuition. Without it, you are likely to be confused and looking to others for your own answers.



Now, that being said, it's perfectly good and necessary to seek out spirituality and business knowledge from others. However, there is a difference between being a workshop junkie and being a truth seeker. The workshop junkie looks for the next quick fix of temporary, adrenaline-induced inspiration (quick to wear off), while the truth seeker looks within and asks, "Hey you, what do you really want to study and learn about next?" She then finds her next step - whether it be a new relationship, an enlightening book, a tele-class or a workshop (wisdom lasts a lifetime).



What makes the difference between these two kinds of women entrepreneurs? One trusts their intuition and the other doesn't. So, you may be asking, how do I TRUST my intuition more?



Here are three powerful tips for unleashing your intuition that I've discovered in my almost ten years experience as a hand analyst/palmist, and spirituality and business coach.



Tip #1: Trust the FIRST impression that comes.

Your impression could be a vision (psychic/clairvoyant), a disembodied voice (clairaudient), a gut feeling (intuition/kinesthetic response), or a simple �~knowing’ that without explanation, forethought or planning, �~flashes’ into your mind.



With my visual psychic/clairvoyant ability, I see imagery either "inside" my mind or "outside" my mind as if on an invisible movie screen. For example, many years ago, I was at a friend's party giving short palm readings to the guests. As one woman sat down in front of me, I saw twelve angels around her. The angels weren't visible in the way that she was �" I saw them energetically and could feel their energy in the physical space with us. Curious and a wee bit nervous, I said, "Are you aware that you have twelve angels walking around with you?" Tip #2: Ask your heart for spirituality and business intuition.

Close your eyes and put your right hand over your heart. Breathe in and out slowly, feeling the rhythm of your heart beat. Then quietly ask your heart, "Heart, what do you want right now?" Since your heart processes emotion, NOT thoughts, it will usually respond with a simple, one- or two-word "feeling" answer such as "love," "forgiveness," "patience," "action," etc. You will probably hear these answers in your head, in your own voice.



Usually my heart answers, "I want peace and joy." However tonight, while writing this article, my heart gave me the longest answer ever. My heart said, "Beth, stop pushing yourself. In her book, Anatomy Of The Spirit, the great energy medicine expert, Caroline Myss wrote, "How we feel about ourselves, whether we respect ourselves, determines the quality of our life, our capacity to succeed in business, relationships, healing, and intuitive skills [emphasis mine]. Self-understanding and acceptance, the bond we form with ourselves, is in many ways the most crucial spiritual challenge we face. In truth, if we do not like ourselves, we will be incapable of making healthy decisions. Instead, we will direct our personal power for decision-making into the hands of someone else. Someone whom we want to impress or someone before whom we think we must weaken ourselves to gain physical security. People who have a low sense of self-esteem attract relationships and occupational situations that reflect and reinforce this weakness." (This lack of self-esteem is the #1 reason why women entrepreneurs don't use their intuition.)

After reading thousands of hands in the hand analysis (non-predictive palmistry) business, I would say the "Life Lesson" of humanity is self-esteem issues. If you doubt yourself, how are you going to trust something as subtle, fast and laser sharp as your intuition for making business decisions?

Spirituality and Business Tip #2: Don't do anything - and I do mean anything - that you don't want to do.

This is different from not doing something because it's uncomfortable or because you are scared. There is a fine distinction here. If you don't want to do something, you know it in every cell of your body. BUT you may be tempted to do it anyway in order to: avoid someone's wrath or criticism, be pleasing, get your way, manipulate someone or get revenge. Just to name some of the many methods of self-betrayal that I see in my palmistry practice.



Spirituality and Business Tip #3: Make commitments to your self that you can keep.

As a palmistry expert, I recommend that instead of saying, "I'm going to start working out five days a week, start writing for two hours every day and start organizing all my paperwork every week," why not commit to: "I'm going to move my body twice a week in a way that is pleasurable to me. I will write five minutes on Friday and build upon that. I will hire someone to organize my paperwork." Many women business owners in my palm reading business have learned from this tip. By making commitments you can keep, you build your self-esteem, and hence, your faith in yourself and in your intuition in making business decisions.

Chirognomy Fortune Teller

hirognomy is a branch of palmistry where we individually can predict some basic things about ourselves and about our nature. Chirognomy deals with the shape, size and other things related to our hands and fingers.

Masculine and Feminine Hands:
It is very much possible to assess the proportion of male and female within a human being from their hands. When we are considering the whole hand, the fact that the hand looks delicate, does not necessarily mean that the person is feminine. The same with the males - a strong, sturdy hand does not indicate a masculine property.
Generally speaking, the round shaping on the hands and fingers suggests female attributes, whereas square shaping on the hand and fingers suggests masculine attributes.

Shape of Hands:
There are several basic types of hand shapes: the square, the conical, the knotty, the pointed and the spatulate.
The square hand enjoys order and regularity, while the conical or artistic hand has a strong tendency towards sensuality and aesthetics.

Your hand changes throughout your life. The lines you see in your palm today are not quite the same as they were a year ago and probably very different from five years ago.

Although your hand gives an outline of your life, it’s only a tentative outline. You have the final decision on the course your life will take. Whether you want the position or not, you’re the captain of your own destiny.

Palmistry, like a doctor examination, is strictly a diagnostic reading. It can point out the forces that operate within you, and it can point out the logical results of these forces. You can accept them as they are or begin to change them.

As with the Tarot, be very careful in your phrasing of what you see in a person’s palm. Some lines may show a particular area in which your subject has very serious problems. This should be presented as oean area of possible weakness and something for which you should be particularly watchful.”

On a few occasions you may encounter a particular combination of lines which indicates a premature death. If this is the case, don’t blurt out what you see. Rather, emphasize the need for great care to avoid illness, accidents, violence or whatever the rest of the hand may seem to imply as possible causes. Remember, palmistry is only a diagnosis it’s never a final pronouncement.

As a palmist, your attitude is of great importance. Never try to oesecond guess” your subject by adding on-the-spot observations and facts you know from beforehand. Only read the palm. THE HEART LINE


The Heart Lines (various ending positions)

The heart line governs our emotional lives and shows how we relate to others. It’s the major line nearest the fingers. It runs across the palm, starting under the little finger
and usually ends in the area between the first and second finger.

Physical Heart line

If the Heart Line forms a gentle curve, starting under the little finger and ending between the first and second fingers, it’s known as the Physical Heart Line.
People with Physical Heart Lines are generally able to express their feelings well. Although they suffer their share of ups and downs, they pick themselves up quickly and get on with their lives. They’re likely to express their feelings in a physical, assertive manner. You could say to someone with this type of heart line:

As your heart line ends right up under the fingers, it shows that you have an open nature and can express your innermost feelings. You’re warm and affectionate. When things go wrong you manage to pick yourself up quickly.”

Mental Heart Line

The other type of heart line is the Mental (or Humanitarian) Heart Line. This runs in a straight line right across the palm of the hand and does not curve at the end.

People with Mental Heart Lines find it hard to express their innermost feelings. They’ll suffer in silence rather than make a scene. They’ll have plenty of romantic feelings which take
precedence over common sense. They’re very sensitive and need plenty of room around them. You might say to these people:

You have a heart line that comes straight across your palm. This is known as a Mental Heart Line, and makes it rather difficult for you to express your innermost feelings.

It will gradually become easier for you, but you have to work at it. You can be sensitive at times and possibly bottle things up a bit. You like people, but you need to have room around you at the same time.”

As this line governs the emotions it’s common to find one with defects, as all of us have ups and downs at different times in our lives. The most common visible signs of trauma are a series of islands on the heart line.

These islands indicate a period of difficulty. Generally, the problems stem from a relationship. This makes it very easy to
determine if someone had an unhappy marriage followed by a happy one. In this case, the earlier part of the person life (the part nearest the little finger) will have a multitude of islands, while the rest of the line will be clear.

Ending Positions

The Heart Line’s end location is extremely important. Ideally, it should end between the first and second finger. This gives a balance between the ego (represented by the first finger) and the rest of humanity. People with this are realistic about their emotional life and don’t have impossible expectations.

If the line ends on or directly under the first finger, the person will be idealistic and easily hurt. Other people will seldom live up to their expectations, leading to frequent
disappointments.

If the heart line ends on, or directly under the second finger, the person is inclined to be selfish and think only of themselves and their own personal gratification. They’ll lack emotional involvement.

Often, you will find a heart line that forks in two directions at the end. This person has a complex emotional nature. He or she will see both sides of a situation.

The Girdle of Venus

Every so often you’ll find a Girdle of Venus. This line is often made up of a series of disjointed small lines. It runs parallel to the Heart Line and is located between the Heart Line and the fingers. This indicates an extremely sensitive and highly emotional

These paintings can be seen in the Lascaux Caves in France, the remarkable Santander caves in Spain and in several caves in Africa.

The ancient Vedic scriptures contained an abundance of information on palmistry. K.C. Sen, an eminent Indian palmist, says the earliest writings on palmistry were ancient Sanskrit. These verses have been preserved and are still guarded from the public eye. Cheiro, the famous palmist, claimed to have seen one of these manuscripts in the early 1900’s.

Palmistry is also mentioned favourably in the Old Testament:

Before the birth of Buddha in 563 B.C., leading seers of the time gathered at the royal palace. They were drawn by extraordinary indications revealed in the stars. They were ecstatic to find the mark of the wheel on Buddha’s hands and feet, indicating his future greatness. Palmists in India still look for this special mark in the palms of babies.

Gypsies came into the picture around the eleventh century, though they had been practising palmistry for centuries before.

Sigismund, the Holy Roman Emperor, enlisted the gypsies as spies.

Word of this soon spread and when Gypsies arrived at the gates of Paris in 1427 they were not allowed inside. However, the citizens of the city, intrigued and excited by these romantic strangers, rushed outside to have their fortunes told.

The tradition of crossing a Gypsy’s palm with silver, dates back to this era.

The church claimed the Gypsies were in league with the Devil. To counter this, the Gypsies explained that the Devil was afraid of both silver and the sign of the cross. Therefore, if you made a sign of the cross over a Gypsy’s hand with silver you would be protected. Needless to say, the gypsies kept the silver.

Interest in using palmistry for psychological analysis is a product of the last century. The first major work on this subject was Julius Spier’s The Hands of Children, which appeared in 1944. Not surprisingly, the introduction was written by Carl Jung. This was quickly followed by works from Noel Jaquin, Charlotte Wolf, and in 1990, by Andrew Fizherbert.

Since the Second World War, research on palm patterns has been going on at the Kennedy Galton Centre near London. This research has lead scientists to confirm that health factors can be determined in the hand.

The current research into dermatoglyphics (the study of skin patterns) is potentially the most exciting development in the history of palmistry.

Although palmistry dates back to the Stone Ages, its greatest period is just beginning. Now that scientists are proving its validity, palmistry may very soon become a main stream reality.

A Palm Reader’s Role
